2024 Porsche Panamera: Luxury Redefined

2024 Porsche Panamera: The Panamera breaks from the longstanding Porsche tradition. The engine of this car is in the front rather than in the middle or rear. It’s for families who can outgrow the cramped comfort of a two-door 911. Although the Panamera has two extra seats, more legroom, and extra cargo space, it’s still a very pleasant ride that can provide a driving experience worth repeating, say car experts.

2024 Porsche Panamera

Power is a standard 325-hp turbocharged V-6; Back-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive is optionally available. For more power, the Panamera 4S AWD model gets off the 440-hp twin-turbo V-6, but the 473-hp twin-turbo V-8 in the Panamera GTS revs up life a lot.

Even the base Panamera exhibits sports-car-like handling, with decisive steering and tremendous grip that combine to deliver raw driving pleasure – missing in larger sedans from the likes of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. Space for extra cargo, the Panamera Sport Turismo, reviewed separately for passengers, has a more eco-friendly rear shape. If you like your wagon strapped up to 689 ponies, the Panamera Turbo, reviewed separately, may have the right herd for you, Authority reckons.

What’s New for 2024?

The 2024 Porsche Panamera hasn’t made any significant changes to the Panamera for 2023 It has remained largely unchanged since its 2023 refresh, with the biggest update this year adding standard adaptive cruise control across all trim levels.

2024 Porsche Panamera Engine Performance

With agile handling and a comfortable ride, especially when equipped with the optional adjustable air suspension, the Panamera is a thrilling driving system to drive. We feel it will provide the comfort and luxury expected of such an expensive four-door hatchback. Every Panamera comes with a boosted engine, but some wear the turbo badge.

We discuss these models separately. The base rear-wheel-drive Panamera and the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 will feature a 325-hp turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6. The base rear-drive model can sprint to 60 mph in a fleet of 4.4 seconds. Under the hood of the considerably faster 4S model – 60 mph in 3.6 seconds – is a 440-hp twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6. Upgrading to the GTS gives you a 473-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine.

It’s the best performer in the non-turbo line, testing a 3.2-second 60-mph time. However, its suspension sacrifices some ride quality in the name of handling. Porsche offers plug-in Panamera vehicles with a 455-hp powertrain in the 4 E-Hybrid and a 552-hp setup in the 4S E-Hybrid. Buyers looking for an all-electric Porsche should check out the performance of the new Taycan car.

2024 Porsche Panamera Fuel Economy

For fuel economy, we think this car is the best of the 4 E-Hybrid Panamera, as it will have a limited all-electric driving range before firing up the gasoline engine. Otherwise, the best of the nonhybrid models are the base Panamera and 4 and 4S. Model, all of which carry the same 18 mpg city and 24 mpg fuel economy ratings.

As we test Panamera models on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route, we’ll update this topic with the results. For more information on the Panamera’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.

2024 Porsche Panamera Interior and Cargo

The 2024 Porsche Panamera is built with a driver-focused cabin that looks and feels every bit as luxurious as its steep price would suggest. The list of standard features is long for the class and suits everyone, but like any Porsche, the options list is extensive and extensive, tempting, and expensive. Upgrades include everything from massaging seats to leather-covered climate-control vents to fire extinguishers.

More common options include ventilated seats, soft-close doors, four-zone automatic climate control, and a power-operated rear-reinforced sunshade. As we test Panamera models on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route, we’ll update this topic soon with the results.

We all especially like the sports seats with 18-way adjustability. You sit low in the 2024 Porsche Panamera, which gives this sedan-like hatchback a sports car feel. Also, it’s spacious inside, even for taller drivers. Executive Stretch models will come with limo-like legroom in the back.

The center console is high-tech as it is clean with touch-sensitive controls for functions like climate control. Unfortunately, this all-touch system is uncomfortable while driving, but you get used to it quickly. The Panamera offers plenty of storage room with 18 cubic feet of cargo space.

2024 Porsche Panamera Infotainment and Connectivity

A large and very attractive 12.3-inch touchscreen sits in the center of the Panamera’s dashboard; unfortunately, the infotainment system is not as easy to use as it should be. While it has exciting features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot, the menus are complex but it has a lot of functionality. As such, the system can be uncomfortable to operate while driving.
