2025 RAM 2500 Allison Transmission is Finally Coming

Don’t Wasting more time, 2025 RAM 2500 Allison Transmission is Finally Coming! After the company recently revealed preparations for the facelift of the light-duty RAM 1500, it was kinda expected to see bigger and more capable siblings getting the same treatment. So, the 3/4-ton iteration is next in the line and from what we know so far, it won’t just come with visual updates. It looks like those rumors about the 2025 RAM 2500 Allison transmission are finally about to make true. The HD pickup will get a new gearbox for its diesel version rumors suggest.

Other than the new gearbox, the upcoming refresh might also bring new powertrain options, instead of the good-old HEMI V8. As mentioned, the new styling is also coming, while various sources also suggest updates on the inside, primarily in terms of the infotainment system.

With all the expected changes, it is quite possible to see the 2025 RAM 2500 a little bit earlier than usual, though still within the second half of the year.

As we’ve just mentioned, the heavy-duty pickup is finally about to get the long-anticipated transmission update. Rumors about this change have been circulating for years and it looks like the good-old Aisin 6-speed automatic is finally going to a well-deserved retirement. Although still quite relevant, this transmission started to show its age. Simply put, rivals come with 10 gears and a little bit more refinement, so these changes would be more than welcome. The replacement is expected to come from Allison, in the form of the well-known 10-speed automatic, which already proved itself in rival pickup models.

Of course, the new transmission will be used in the diesel version, equipped with the well-known 6.7-liter inline-six turbodiesel from Cummins. On the other hand, we have no doubt that the gas version will continue with the excellent 8-speed automatic.

However, the gas-powered version could easily get a new engine. The old HEMI V8 could easily be replaced with the new 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six, with a max output of 510 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, there is the matter of interior design. The current generation has been praised for interior quality and that indicates that the changes are about to be minor. Simply, the current model still looks better than competitors, whether it’s about style, build quality or sound insulation. Of course, we expect to see various cab styles and bed lengths on offer again.

On the other hand, what could use updates is the infotainment system. The screen size is still pretty impressive, but we would expect to see updated software, along we new connectivity features, such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2025 RAM 2500 Allison transmission isn’t the only big novelty that is coming for the next year. This will be a typical mid-cycle refresh, so styling updates are expected as well. This primarily refers to the exterior design, which should receive the same treatment as the light-duty 1500. A bolder grille, more aggressive headlights and a new bumper are just some of the things that come to mind. Furthermore, we could see novelties in terms of new color options, wheels etc.

On the other hand, we don’t believe this model could bring bigger mechanical changes. The current model already impresses with its combination of capability and ride quality and definitely doesn’t need upgrades at the moment. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see changes in some other aspects, such as the off-road upgrades. The current model is available in two variants, Power Wagon and Rebel, and each could get some additional pieces of hardware, although we have to say that the current models are already pretty impressive in this aspect.
